The Sigotto Uomo 6241 in navy is a men's driving moccasin in deep navy Italian crocodile-embossed leather, finished with a metal horsebit across the vamp. It is handcrafted in Istanbul, Turkey, and has a leather lining, a cushioned insole, and a flexible driving sole that wraps up the back of the heel. It comes in a standard width in US sizes 8 through 13.

Craftsmanship

Sigotto Uomo handcrafts its whole collection in Istanbul. The upper is Italian leather embossed with a crocodile pattern and finished in deep navy, and the embossing gives the dark color a play of light and shadow along the vamp. The moccasin construction stitches the upper around the forefoot to form the moc-toe, which leaves the shoe soft and unstructured so it moves with the foot. Underneath, the driving sole bends with each step and grips the pedals. The heel wrap carries that rubber up the back of the shoe and guards the leather where it meets the car floor. Inside, a breathable leather lining and a cushioned insole keep the shoe comfortable through a long day.

Heritage

The driving moccasin was first made in Italy in the mid-twentieth century for men who wanted to feel the pedals through a thin, pliable sole. Its rubber heel wrap protected the back of the shoe on the floor mat. The horsebit comes from equestrian tack and has long been a mark of the refined slip-on. This model keeps both: Italian leather and a classic driving silhouette, shaped by hand in a city with centuries of leather craft.

Styling

Navy sits between brown and black. It is quieter than brown and less formal than black, and it works with more of a wardrobe than either. Wear the 6241 with white or light-wash denim and a linen shirt in warm weather, or with gray flannel trousers and a fine-gauge knit later in the year. It pairs well with tan, stone, gray and white, and looks best with no-show socks or bare ankles.

FAQs

How does the Sigotto Uomo navy driving moccasin fit?

It comes in a standard width, in US 8 through 12 with half sizes, plus a 13. There is no 12.5.

What is it made of?

The upper is Italian crocodile-embossed leather with a metal horsebit across the vamp. Inside are a breathable leather lining and a cushioned insole, and underneath is a flexible driving sole with a heel wrap.

Where is it made?

Sigotto Uomo handcrafts it in Istanbul, Turkey. The leather comes from Italy.

Can it be resoled?

No. Because of its moccasin construction, the driving sole can't be replaced, so careful wear and rotation between pairs will help it last.

Does it need breaking in?

Very little. The soft, unstructured upper and the flexible driving sole bend with the foot from the first wear.

How should I care for navy crocodile-embossed leather?

Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth, and condition it now and then with a neutral or navy leather cream. Brush the cream lightly into the embossed grain so it doesn't collect in the pattern, and keep the shoe out of prolonged wet weather.

Is it suitable for driving?

Yes. That is what it is built for. The flexible sole lets you feel the pedals, and the heel wrap protects the back of the shoe against the floor of the car.

What do you wear with navy driving moccasins?

Navy works with white, gray, tan, stone and most shades of denim. It is a quieter choice than brown and suits warm-weather and year-round outfits alike.
